SFI Certified Wood

April 15, 2015 by LauraBritt

They utilize small, fast-growing tree species and use the process waste to fuel our facilities. In addition, AdvanTech have implemented the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Program throughout all our wood procurement operations. The program incorporates company-wide procedures and policies that meet or exceed SFI performance measures for wood procurement and timber harvesting activities. (This product does not contain urea formaldehyde.)

Across Canada and the United States,  250 million acres (100 million hectares) are certified to the SFI forest management standard, the largest single forest standard in the world.

The SFI program’s unique fiber sourcing requirements promote responsible forest management on all suppliers’ lands. SFI chain-of-custody (COC) certification tracks the percentage of fiber from certified forests, certified sourcing and post-consumer recycled content. SFI on-product labels identify both certified sourcing and COC claims to help consumers make responsible purchasing decisions. SFI Inc. is governed by a three-chamber board of directors representing environmental, social and economic sectors equally.

Our Story

What is Gradients of Green?
What started as a simple remodeling project has evolved into so much more due to irreconcilable structural challenges (i.e.bad soils). A high-performance Sustainable Case Study house will soon take the place of the structure built in 1951 in Central Austin.
