Native Texan, Melissa Ellis, specializes in hand-sculpted, heavy impasto oil paintings. Known for her signature colorful starburst, thumbprint and bijoux pieces, she has developed a distinct style of palette knife painting to create luscious patterns, shapes and designs by sculpting oil paint with knives and applying it to canvas and wood panel.
Organic and spontaneous yet calculated and meticulous, her love of travel, nature, music, fashion and food inspire carefully crafted detail in her work.
Melissa has work in permanent collections of Scottish Rite Hospitals, Texas Health Resources, BeautyBio, Paul Martin's American Grill, and Louis Vuitton, among others. She is passionate about giving back to her community and is a Co-Founding Board Member of Dallas Galleries for Advocacy, a 2024 DIFFA Dallas Style Council Ambassador, Fashion Group INTL Board Member, and Co-Chair of Night of Stars Gala, and was he 2023 Art Chair for Dallas Children’s Advocacy Centers Art for Advocacy. Raising a record setting $1.6 million dollars.
She lives in Dallas with her husband, two crazy Australian Shepherds. Loves Traveling, Scuba diving, trekking, all things color, design and tequila! As well as spending time with friends and family.
