Nora McMillen Burke is an Austin based visual artist who draws influence from her background in textile design and her love of folk art. Born in Austin, TX, Nora studied Textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology before attending the University of Texas master’s program in Art Education. Nora works primarily with watercolors and oil on hand dyed canvas, often combining marbling and cyanotype techniques. She is inspired by archetypal symbolism and researching design motifs found throughout global textiles. Her work explores pattern, symmetry and highlights the common imagery that connects textile traditions from diverse cultures.
Nora has participated in two Evenings of Art shows at Britt Design Group.
