After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from DePauw University, then spending nearly a decade managing advertising campaigns for some of the world’s most recognizable brands, Marie is excited to be pursuing a new career path in interior design. While assisting with all studio needs at BDG, she is simultaneously earning her Master of Interior Design degree from the University of Texas School of Architecture with a focus on sustainability and wellness design. Her prior education and professional experience have provided her with extensive knowledge of how people are affected by their environments as well as how to strategically communicate ideas, messages, and experiences. She believes that every element of design, from the selection of materials to the architectural structure, can and should have a positive impact on peoples’ wellbeing.
Marie also designs and fabricates custom furniture commissions on the side. She loves mixing materials and textures, from wood and steel to tile, concrete, and textiles.
When not studying, working, or fabricating furniture, Marie loves hiking with her Airedale Terrier, Hank, seeing as much live music as possible, traveling, daydreaming about purchasing a historic home, and spending quality time with friends and family.
